Information About Our Fees & Costs

Do I have to pay any money upfront?

NO. Our representation agreement is a “contingency fee” agreement, meaning you don’t pay ANYTHING unless we recover money for you.

Please see Page 1, Section 1A of HL Law Group’s representation agreement for more information.

How do I pay you?

If we recover money for you, then our fee would be a percentage of the recovery. The percentage in your case is shown on the first page of the representation agreement.

Please see Page 1, Section 1B of HL Law Group’s representation agreement for more information.

Can I recover attorney’s fees to pay for some or all of the fee?

YES. You may be able to recover money from the insurance company to pay for some or all of our fee. If we recover money from the insurance company for attorney’s fees, this may be paid in addition to the money we are seeking for your damages.

How would I benefit if the insurance carrier pays attorney’s fees?

If we recover money from the insurance company for attorney’s fees, it may be applied to reduce the amount you would be obligated to pay us for the fee. In the best case scenario, we may get the insurance company to pay the entire fee. If they pay the entire fee, then you would not pay anything to us for the fee (although costs would still be owed). See the following section for additional information.

Please see Page 1, Section 1B of HL Law Group’s representation agreement for more information.

What about out-of-pocket expenses (i.e. costs) associated with our work?

There may be expenses, or costs, we need to incur in your case. For example, the amount the court charges us to file a lawsuit, deposition costs or the cost to hire an expert to support your claim. If we have to incur costs in your case, we will pay these costs directly so that you don’t have to.

Please see Page 1, Section 1C of HL Law Group’s representation agreement for more information.

Do I have to pay you for the costs you incur if you don’t recover money?

NO. You do not have to pay costs if we do not recover money for you. If we recover money, the costs are reimbursed to us out of the recovery at the conclusion of your case.

Please see Page 1, Section 1C of HL Law Group’s representation agreement for more information.

How much are costs in a typical case?

In a typical case the costs should be a fraction of the overall recovery. As the case progresses the costs generally increase. In a typical case the amount of costs we incur should make sense in light of the amount necessary to properly resolve your claim.
